For my coffee cravings there are many coffee shops in Islamabad, but when it comes to my tea cravings, I don’t have many options? My kitchen is always the best place for a perfect brew, until a few years back I discovered “Chaaye Khana”.

Located in one of the most leading areas of Islamabad, the F-6 Super Market, Chaaye Khana caught my attention because of its interesting name.  With its inquisitive label it gives a feeling that it is not like the normal cafes, which you will find in every nook and corner of the city offering just pastries and coffee, there was surely more to Chaaye Khana.

The most thought-provoking part for me was that Pakistan is a country where you will find tea-lovers more than coffee-lovers, but we don’t have any proper tea houses.

Until Chaaye Khana the most sophisticated and cozy tea house in the town opened its doors to the people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in January 2011.

The owner of this tea house Mr. Kashif Ahmad had an aim of targeting the market of 30-plus lot, but Chaaye Khana not only attracted the adults, it also attracted the young generation of the twin cities.

What’s On The Menu

Chaaye Khana has an extensive menu which offers a wide variety of breakfast items, tea blends, special meals, snacks and delectable desserts.

The café opens its doors to the public from early morning and you can have breakfast from 8am to 12pm at Chaaye Khana. Their breakfast menu includes scrambled eggs, a variety of omelets, pancakes, French toast, croissants and garlic mushroom toast.

I personally like to have Pancakes and Scrambled Eggs at Chaaye Khana. The Pancakes are served with butter and a topping of your choice. The combination of Pancakes with honey is always delicious, but with Maple Syrup it is more tantalizing, so my recommendation that you try their Pancakes with Maple Syrup.

On the menu they also offer different kinds of sandwiches and burger, like Bun Kabab, Beef Burger, Hot Dog, Club Sandwich, Steak Sandwich and Tuna Sandwich. All of these are served with a sideline of your choice which can be French Fries, Mash Potato or Cole Slaw. I personally like Tuna Sandwich with Mash Potatoes, if I have to rate their Tuna Sandwich I’ll give it 9 out of 10.

I am really not a big fan of desserts, but Chaaye Khana offers mouth-watering sweet course from brownies, pies, tarts, doughnuts to puddings you will find all of these desserts delightful.

Chaaye Khana Speciality

Here comes the best part about Chaaye Khana the six categories of Tea which is their specialty; Green Tea, Herbal Tea, White Tea, Oolong Tea, Black Tea and Rooibos Tea.

Each of these six categories of tea has around five to fifteen different kinds of tea names under it, plus the tea menu is on a separate menu card. A regular cup of tea is for Rs.80 and is highly worth it, but the special tea flavors are not as reasonable as the regular one. The special tea flavors start from Rs.250 and can even go up to Rs.450 per cup for some flavors, but the aroma which your smelling sense will feel will make you realize that it’s worth giving it a try.

Select a flavor of your choice or the one you are in a mood for, but if you can’t decide which one you want to have, then just go for the traditional cup of tea with a plate of samosas. I personally enjoy having Doodh Patti at Chaaye Khana for me it is 10 out of 10.

Ambience Of Chaaye Khana

The ambience of Chaaye Khana is of an upscale, cozy and pleasant tea house, perfectly lightened, with some amazing books to read and light music in the background; it gives a feeling of relaxation. You will find the décor and the comfy sitting corners of Chaaye Khana very indulging; just sitting at this place instantly relaxes your mind from all the worries.

This is something I have experienced, whether in a good mood or in a bad mood Chaaye Khana always gave my mind peace and relaxation to think ahead. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the ambience of this place or the nice view of the Margalla Hills, but I always managed to feel better at this café.

I would like to conclude my review for Chaaye Khana, as I’m so much in love with this place I can go on and on about it and that’s because this place is one of its own kind in Islamabad, it has a very different atmosphere.

Every restaurant and café has its own personality, but Chaaye Khana is one of those places where I can take my laptop and start writing my next article. But honestly, it is not that work oriented, they have bridged table with chess board so you can always visit with a friend for a game of chess and some tea. The last time I visited this place I even spot a group of students from some university chatting and enjoying their teas and coffee. So you see Chaaye Khana is not only for the 30 plus lot it has attracted the young and old both and it’s mainly because of the diverse theme of this tea house.
